Intangible Assets and Share Value – DO ANALYSTS NEED A NEW MODEL FOR VALUING INTANGIBLES?

The importance of intangible assets to corporate success is well known and widely accepted. Market capitalizations reflect investment in  intangibles, which in the US has exceeded investment in tangible assets since the late 1990s. Given their importance, proper valuation of intangibles becomes even more essential for securities analysts, who face significant challenges in this area.
